My daughter s 1999 nissan altima did not pass inspection because the horn does not work yet it does chirp when using the key fob to lock unlock the doors. Today my second key fob also stopped working. A dead key fob means you re locked out of the car which is the last thing anyone would want when in a hurry. On my 2006 nissan altima the key fob stopped working i can use key to get in and out but while driving the hazard lights periodically come on as well as the horn by them selves.

Any ideas of what could be wrong. I searched the webs in and out for few weeks now. All nissan dealers are required to have the tester as a shop tool. I have a 2006 nissan altima and both of my key fobs stopped working.

I had the same issues with my key fob nissan intelligent key as many others on this forum. I changed the battery in both but that did not seem to fix the problem. If this does not work have a nissan dealer check the key fob with their testing tool to determine if it is ok. I am not able to unlock the car or pop the trunk.

Fob won t work after battery relpaced. A key fob is a nice convenience but it s frustrating when the remote key won t unlock car door. A smart fob can stop working for several reasons and diagnosing them is quite simple. I read briefly somewhere that there are fuses associated with that mechanical piece.

I recommend you try reprogramming the key fob.
